Luis Fernando Correia (born July 11, 1961) is a Brazilian physician and health correspondent. [1]
Education and Training[edit]
Correia graduated in Medicine, in 1988, from Escola de Medicina e Cirurgia da UNIRIO, and went on to Post Graduate Training in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at the Federal Hospital of Andaraí. In 2001 he received a M.B.A in Healthcare Management at Ibemec in Rio de Janeiro. In 2006 he was part of the first class of the Medicine in the Media program at Dartmouth University.
Medical career[edit]
In 1991 he joined the Hospital Samaritano medical team, initially as attending physician and then the Head of the Emergency Department. He was Head of Research Ethical Committee and responsible for the Coordination of External Events medical coverage of Sports Events as the Diving and Swimming National Championships in Rio de Janeiro. From 2015 started to work at with the Board of the new Americas Medical City Complex in Rio de Janeiro and Hospital Samaritano as Institutional Relations Coordinator. From 1995 to 1998 worked as Regional Medical Manager at HSBC Healthcare Insurance at Rio de Janeiro State. Published scientific papers in different international journals about geriatrics heathcare and Emergency Treatment at Soccer Field.
Broadcasting and Health Correspondent Career[edit]
Since 2001 he has been responsible for a health news bulletin at Radio CBN called "Saúde em Foco" [2] (Central Brasileira de Notícias), broadcast daily nationwide. In February 2009, he joined ([GloboNews]]'s talk show "Estúdio I". In Novemberhe started as Health News Anchor for the noon News Show RJ TV 1a Edição (RJTV) at TV Globo broadcast daily in Rio de Janeiro State and contributes for other programs as well, Bom Dia Brasil (nationwide morning news show) – (Bom Dia Brasil) Bem Estar (morning Health Show) and Esporte Espetacular (Sunday morning Sports Show) . In 2011, received EMMY International Award of Journalism for the coverage of the retake of Rio de Janeiro areas from the crime lords along with the TV Globo team. In 2012, the same team received a nomination for the EMMY International Award for the coverage of the Flood at Mountainside of the State. In 2009, was the moderator of a talk show at the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Summit, in Dublin, Ireland.,
Sports Medicine[edit]
Beginning in 2004, he has been team physician to various Brazil athletic teams in international competitions, and a medical officer for events including the Pan American Games and the Olympics.
