Luke Jackson (author)
Luke Christopher Jackson (born 18 August 1988) is the author of Freaks, Geeks, and Asperger Syndrome: A User Guide to Adolescence, published 15 August 2002. This book is written from his first-hand experience of living with Asperger syndrome. He is also the author of "A User Guide to the GF/CF Diet for Autism, Asperger Syndrome and ADHD", published in 2001.
Jackson has three sisters and three brothers. One brother, Joe, has AD/HD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), and another brother, Ben, has autism. The family was featured in a 2003 BBC Two documentary, My Family and Autism. [1] His youngest brother was born years later.
In his book Crystalline Lifetime: Fragments of Asperger Syndrome, Jackson states that he left school at 14 "after completely having had enough", although he has "tried college" since and played in a band. Jackson also recorded a column for BBC Radio 4's programme Home Truths.
His most recent book, Sex, Drugs and Asperger's Syndrome (ASD): A User Guide to Adulthood, was published in 2016. Jackson reveals that he has also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and is currently studying at university.
