Lumens.com (also referred to as Lumens Light + Living) is an American retail company selling lighting fixtures, furniture, and home accessories in the United States and Canada. It is a subsidiary of YDesign Group, a privately held corporation based in Walnut Creek, CA in the San Francisco Bay area.[1]

History[edit]

Lumens.com was founded by partners Ken Plumlee and Peter Weight in 2004 as a brick-and-mortar retail lighting showroom in Sacramento, CA, after the duo acquired Benning’s Lighting.[2] In 2015, YDesign Group acquired Lumens.com, adding their 4,000 square-foot showroom, online presence and over 100 employees to YDesign Group’s stable.[3] In 2019, Lumens and sister company YLighting partnered with Denmark’s Louis Poulsen design studio to donate portable solar lighting to rural African villages.[4]
