lump /lʌmp/ is a social networking service website in English made in Bulgaria by Dimitar Bogdanov. Its website launched in May 2018 with Petya Bogdanova and Dimitar Nikolov.[1]
The website’s domain was bought in April, a month before the release, but the web hosting was bought two days before the planned date for release. The website’s name was created before the author, Dimitar, even knew what it meant, and when he figured that out, it was too late for a change. Even with that name, the website does not directly reference any medical solutions about the topic.[2]
The website is accessible from every modern Internet-based device: desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. After successful registration, users can add an interesting fact about themselves, a short bio, and a profile picture. Users can follow each other. When a user follows another one, they will see their posts on the landing page.[3]
History of the website
February 2018
Dimitar’s idea for a social network started rolling out, and the first line of code was made. It continued to grow and grow until April.
April 2018
The website is almost done at this point. The last things were adding design to pages, and the domain name was bought. Removal of unnecessary code was made.
May 2018
The website was planned to be launched on May 14th at 00:00 GMT (which was not Dimitar’s timezone, and he was responsible for launching it). The problem is that this date was a Monday, and Dimitar had to go to school, meaning he had to get to sleep early. The website should have launched at 02:00 AM EEST but launched around 9:40 AM EEST because he had completely forgotten. The launch was made from a mobile phone, which, “was the worst thing ever,” he said.
June 2018
A ban function is developed, planned to go rolling on June 16th. Spam filters are also developed, planned for July 1st.
