MEAT: A Lesson in Thrash Metal

The band members of MEAT have been a driving force in the North Bay Thrash Metal Scene since 1989. Troy Ho, when he met Gene Anderson, was an aspiring drummer. The two instantly became best friends. Shortly after high school, they became employees of Mesa/Boogie Engineering and Apogee Sound.
Growing up surrounded by great friends in great local bands such as Intense, Skitzo, Invicta, Operation Ivy, Capitalist Casualty, Counter Balance, Victims Family, Insanity Puppets, Testament, Death Angel, Forbidden, SkinLab, 40Grit, PhatSak, The Heat Creeps, and so many more great friends in really great bands.

Around 1994, Gene helps form a Thrash Metal band "Outrage" in Santa Rosa, CA. That lasts until 1996. After a short stint at starting a Wild Boar Guide Service in Western Sonoma County & becoming an organic farmer, this is when MEAT gets time to start seriously working on writing heavy Thrash/Punk/Metal songs and plan for the band to grow on many levels.

It was in 2001 that Gene & Troy write and record their first song "Juarez" under the name of MEAT. Unfortunately, the world pushes the pause button for MEAT.

A couple of moves set the guys in MEAT in completely different parts of the country. Troy lands in Philadelphia by marriage.

Gene takes a few years off playing guitar to start a successful organic hog farm in Oregon.

Troy reconnects with Gene online in 2018 detailing his recent purchases of dual Marshall Stacks and a Mesa/Boogie bass rig. Seeing Troy's videos of him jamming reignites an inspirational flame inside Gene. 2018 sees Slayer touring with Testament, Lamb of God, and Troy invites Gene and other high school friends to meet up for the Sacramento show of the tour. Gene misses this one, but Chris Andersen & Troy reconnect and enjoy Slayer with family and friends.
In November of 2019 for Slayer’s finale show, Gene and Troy make the pilgrimage to the Los Angeles Forum. This would be a pivotal point in the history of MEAT. Gene has it in his mind that he will ask Paul Bostaph to play drums for MEAT. We miss face time with Paul by one night. Passes for us on Saturday night. We went on Sunday night. All good. It was an epic night.

A fire had been lit inside Troy and Gene.

Troy asks Chris Andersen to take over the Bass position in MEAT. A guitarist by nature, Chris appreciates the challenge and agrees to join MEAT.

Now the guys in MEAT are searching for the universe's best drummer. Word on the streets is Paul "Ballzoff" Bostaph is in talks with Troy for tracking drums for the upcoming
MEAT EP "Scarred For Life".

MEAT are set to take over the Thrash Universe with a world class team of greats for their production team.

Mark B from Blind Illusion and Rick Hunolt from Exodus have agreed to help with musical direction. Mooka Rennick of Prairie Sun Recording has expressed interest in having MEAT record at PSR studios. Juan Urteaga from Trident Studios has also said MEAT needs to record with him. Ralph Patlan of Megadeth library Remixing and Remastering and Jamie Fox fame hopes to work with MEAT as well.

Keep your ear to the ground.

When you start to hear the low rumble and feel the ground start to shake.

That is MEAT heading your way.
