Machinio is a vertical search engine for used machinery and equipment including tractors, bulldozers, and cranes.[1] It matches sellers of machines with buyers of machines.[2]

Machinio operates a database where buyers can search from over 1 million available second hand machines.[3]

History[edit]

Machinio was founded in 2012 by Dan Pinto and Dmitriy Rokhfeld in San Francisco, CA and launched in 2013.[4]

After graduating from the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator,[5] Machinio raised $1 million in seed capital from Angel investors Rony Kahan, founder of Indeed.com and venture capital firms including Elevation Partners and Maxfield Capital.[3] The company then moved to Chicago, IL.[6]

They raised an additional $3 million in Series A financing in 2016 led by Ritchie Bros bringing total amount raised to $4 million.[7]
