Mack Devaron Perry[1] (born January 16, 1975) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, musician. He is best known as the lead singer and lead guitarist of the American rock band Agony in the Garden, which he founded in 2013.[2][3]

Perry was born in Dayton, Ohio. Perry picked up acoustic guitar late in 2003 and quickly moved to electric. In April 2013 Perry became known as the one-man band Agony in the Garden writing, composing, singing and playing all instrumentation on his first release "Wayward One" inspired by Alter Bridge. In May 2013 he signed with Sunny Dragon Records, six months later Perry left Sunny Dragon and continued as an Indie artist. In 2014 Perry became sponsored by Band Brand in Canada. In March 2014 Perry met Marcia Wiggins of Cape Whoopies . Upon assisting her with a campaign for Cape Whoopies she named the MACK’s RasPERRY Red Velvet Whoopie pie after him.
In May 2015 Perry released Agony in the Garden's premier EP Where Olympus Dwells.[4] The second track from the premier EP "Let It Burn"[5] was heard on various CBS Sports shows as well as the 2016 Super Bowl Live after release. In late May it was announced Perry was an official endorsee sponsored by WT. Foster Guitars.[6] Originally playing an Ibanez RG series Perry now only plays the WT. Foster F8001 Deluxe Pro. Perry appeared on the No. 1 Webshow The Jimmy Star Show[7][8] in July 2015 showcasing his premier lyric video Where Olympus Dwells.[9] In June, 2015 Cape Whoopies announced Perry was an official endorsee sponsoring Perry and Agony in the Garden.[10]
February 2016 Perry co-wrote three songs with Clint Lowery of the Grammy nominated band Sevendust. Perry stated he would be including some or all of these tracks on Agony's next album. In the summer of 2016 Ssedsha Film Productions and Dino Publishing announced the inclusion of "Where Olympus Dwells" on the soundtrack of the upcoming film release Precision.[11][12] In September Agony in the Garden released their single Obsolete.[13] October 2016 Perry and Agony in the Garden signed with Spectra Music Group with the album set for release in 2017. December 2016 Perry became an official endorsee sponsored by CT. Music Straps Inc.[14] December 2016 Forkster music announced Agony in the Garden as their 2016 Independent Rock Artist of the Year.[15]
January 2017 Perry joined the Dean Markley family of musicians and announced his sponsorship and endorsement of Dean Markley.[16] Perry is known for using their Blue Steel brand of strings. March 10 Perry and Agony in the Garden released their debut Spectra Music Group single "Falling in Reverse".[17][18]

Perry is considered a highly skilled guitarist with a demonstrated proficiency in multiple techniques. He has been noted to demonstration a mastering of Polyrhythms. A signature technique of Perry's is his style of hybrid picking along with intricate arpeggiations as well as highly technical guitar solos. Perry has stated various influences throughout his career including; Joe Satriani, Mark Tremonti, Andy James, Prince, KT Tunstall, George Benson, John Petrucci, BB King as well as John Mayer.
Perry's vocals have been compared to many singers including but not limited to; David Bowie, Eddie Vedder, Scott Stapp as well as Myles Kennedy. From "Wayward One" to the latest release "Falling in Reverse" the dynamic and vast range of Perry's vocals can be heard distinctly. Siting various vocal influences including; David Bowie, Eva Cassidy, Myles Kennedy, Sting, Jon Foreman, JR Richards, Peabo Bryson as well as Freddie Mercury.
Various compositions of Perry's have been created in alternate tunings. In the demo video of "Obsolete"[19] he states it is in a form of "Open D5", DADADD.
Perry is often compared to Trent Reznor of NIN for his multifaceted talents and production.
Perry is known for his public endorsements and videos demonstrating his sponsors; WT. Foster Guitars,[20] Dean Markley,[21] MXL Microphones,[22] CT. Music Straps Inc, Cape Whoopies and MJS Custom Pickups.[23] Perry is also known for avidly supporting the indie music community and his charitable nature.
