Personal life[edit]

Ellis graduated from Whitehouse High School in 2004 and attended the University of Houston where she studied Spanish and communications.[2] She is married to Bradley Cherry and they have one son.[3] She is a spokesperson for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.[4]

Pageants[edit]

Miss Texas Teen USA[edit]

Ellis' first major pageant win came in 2003 when she won the title Miss Texas Teen USA 2004. Ellis was already an experienced contestant when she won this title, as she had placed third runner-up in the 2002 pageant and was a semi-finalist in 2003.

Ellis represented Texas in the Miss Teen USA pageant held in Palm Springs, California in August 2004. She placed in the top fifteen of the nationally televised pageant, which was won by Shelley Hennig of Louisiana.[1]

Miss Texas USA[edit]

After passing on her title in November 2004, Ellis competed in the Miss Texas USA 2006 pageant in June 2005 where she made the top ten. On 25 June 2006 she won the Miss Texas USA 2007 title, held in Laredo.[5] First runner-up was Crystle Stewart who would go on to win the Miss Texas USA and Miss USA titles the following year. Ellis won the Photogenic award, which she had also won at Miss Texas Teen USA 2004.[6]

Miss USA 2007[edit]

Ellis competed for the title of Miss USA 2007 on March 23, 2007 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles where she placed in the top 10.[7]
