Major, Lindsey & Africa is a legal and executive search firm, with headquarters in Hanover, Maryland.[2][3]
History[edit]
The firm was founded in 1982.[3] Allegis Group acquired it in 2008.[3] It has legal recruiters in a number of United States markets, and in a number of international markets.[4][5]
In 2007, Jane Sullivan Roberts, the wife of Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts, joined the firm as a partner; she departed in 2019 to join Mlegal.[6][7] In 2012, Jeffrey Lowe, a former partner at Hogan & Hartson and the managing partner of the firm's Washington office, was named the Global Practice Leader of the firm's Law Firm Practice Group.[8] That same year the firm merged with Atlanta-based legal recruiting, executive search and diversity management firm Hughes Consultants.[9] In 2016, the firm opened a Baltimore, Maryland, office.[10] In 2017, Major, Lindsey & Africa hired Keith Wetmore, chairman emeritus of Morrison & Foerster.[11][12]
In 2018 Forbes ranked the firm on its list of "America's Best Executive Recruiting Firms."[13] It was not on the list the following year.[14] In 2019 the ABA Journal described it as a large recruiter.[15][16][17]
