From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

CertifiKID, LLC is an American e-commerce company connecting its members with local deals for kids' activities and family experiences. The company is headquartered in Potomac, Maryland. They offer daily deals such as live entertainment, kids' camps and classes, birthday parties, family travel, sporting events, theater, dining, and gifts.[1] The company offers local deals in several metro areas across the country.[2]

CertifiKID partners with local businesses to offer their products and services at a discounted price to its members.[3] The company employs a remote workforce of full-time and part-time employees.[4]

History[edit]

The company was founded in 2010 by CEO, Jamie Ratner.[5] CertifiKID was the first of its kind deal website geared to the family market. Ratner wrote a blog geared towards parents looking to save money and try new things locally with their kids. Ratner recognized a gap in the daily deal marketplace for discounts on experiences that appeal to families with their children. Ratner launched the company out of her home in Washington, D.C. with an initial investment of $5,000.[6]

In 2012, the company's Special Deals for Special Needs program launched, making it the first website to offer deals focused specifically on families of children with special needs.[7] In 2013, Los Angeles and Chicago-based FamilyFinds company, and Atlanta-based FamGrab company became a part of the company.[8]

In 2018, the company announced its camp scholarship program, which allows children in the Washington, D.C and Baltimore metro areas to attend summer camp tuition-free.[9]
