Development[edit]

In January 2019, Sony Pictures Entertainment has registered two titles with the producers’ association called Major and Major Sandeep in their endeavour to make a biopic on his life.[5] Namratha Shirodkar spouse of Mahesh Babu, co-producer on the film approached Adivi Sesh for portraying the role of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan[6][7]. He quickly accepted the offer as he was dreaming to play the role for years[8]. He interacted with Sandeep's parents for researching about him. He is writing the screenplay with his Goodachari director Sashi Kiran Tikka helming the film.[9] In February 2019, it was announced by G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd on social media about the film.[10]

Casting[edit]

On 2 March 2020 it was revealed that Sobhita Dhulipala joined the cast in an undisclosed role.[11][12] In late September 2020, Saiee M Manjrekar has joined the cast in an undisclosed role[4].

Filming[edit]

The principal photography on the film was started in early January 2020.[13][14] Portions of the film were shot in Kashmir, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. Important scenes were being filmed at Kashmir border but they were halted in March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.[15]
