Majyd Aziz Balagamwala is a Karachi born business tycoon and industrialist. He is president of a family-owned enterprise named MHG Group of Companies. He held numerous prestigious positions in various native and international business and industrial forums.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

He was born to Zubeda Tayoob and Abdul Aziz Haji Omer Balagamwala on August 15, 1950.He did his Matric in 1958-67 from St. Patrick's High School, Karachi, and his I.Com from St. Patrick's College, Karachi. He did his B.S in Business Administration in 1969-72 and Master in Management in 1972-73 from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, United States of America.[2]

Leadership[edit]

He is the former President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2006-2007).He was twice the Chairman of SITE Association of Industry, Karachi, which represents 3000+ industries in SITE, Karachi and today contributed 25% of revenue of the National Exchequer. He was the longest serving Chairman of the government-owned SME Bank Ltd and is at present the Member of the Board of Directors of the government-owned Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd (erstwhile Agriculture Development Bank Ltd).[3] He always raised his voice for traders since businesses in Karachi due to criminal gangs many are relocating their families to escape of insecurity.[4]

He is playing effective role in drafting trade policies to boost export of Pakistan.[5]
