Manauri is a village, 18 km west of Allahabad city. It lies on the border of Allahabad and Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh. On this village, a Railway Station lying nearby on the New Delhi - Howrah main line and an Air Force Station nearby on NH-2 is also named. Due to proximity of the village with the main Railway line and National highway, it has developed into a local trade market. The village has a huge population of more than 10 thousand, both of Hindus and Muslims. The main occupation is grains, vegetable and fruits agriculture along with traditional works like metal work, blacksmithing, carpentry, glass work, construction labour etc.

Recently, the village Manauri is in the news due to various reasons. The government started making a road flyover on the railway tracks in 2017 as the road (from NH-2 at Puramufti in the north to Allahabad-Kaushambi state highway in the south) on the track used to be closed every 15 minutes for trains, leading to huge traffic congestion together with road encroachments resulting frequently in a standstill of business activity here and public outcry as a result. The flyover completion date has been postponed to August 2018 from earlier March 2018. Also, the village was in the news for land acquisition delays for eastern dedicated freight corridor work which will bypass Allahabad city from 2 km east of here to 3 km east of Chheoki junction to avoid the city’s dense infrastructure zone. Every second or third day, bikers who illegally cross the ‘closed for work’ road on the tracks are met with accidents from coming trains, mostly fatal. This has become a headache for the administration and Allahabad and Kaushambi police. The approaches and ends of the flyover on both sides of the track have been made very fast, but the work just above the track section is very slow due to huge traffic on the Delhi - Howrah Main line which will take time for pillar and girder launching etc. works.
