Mandy Yaken[edit]
Mandy Yaken is a Canadian-Algerian-French songwriter and producer born in Algiers and living in Montreal, Quebec.
He is the anglophone alter-ego of francophone recording artist Mehdi Cayenne.[1]
Debut album "Wisdom Teeth"[edit]
On November 4th 2022, Mandy Yaken released his debut english album "Wisdom Teeth" (stylised as "Wi$dom T33th") on indie label PASA Musik.
His debut single "We Don't Sing" was released the same-day along with a self-directed music video.[2]The whole album was entirely written, composed, produced and co-mixed by Mandy Yaken.[2]
The 10-song LP features drums by long-time collaborators Oli Bernatchez, as well as keyboards, drum machines and guitars on select tracks by Olivier Fairfield (Last Ex, Timber Timbre, FET.NAT, Leif Vollebekk, Andy Schauf, Lou Doillon) and bass parts by Patrice Agbokou (Socalled).[2]
The record was mixed by Mark Lawson (Basia Bulat, Arcade Fire, Beirut) and mastered by Harris Newman.[2]
Two tracks include back vocals from Meryem Saci and Gabrielle Shonk, and “The Worst” features the poet, musician, author and director Saul Williams.[2]
