Maneater is an action-adventure RPG video game published by Tripwire Interactive set to be released on 22 May 2020 for the Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.[1][2] The game is developed by Blindside for the Nintendo Switch and by Tripwire Interactive for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.[3][4][5]
Gameplay[edit]
Maneater is an action-adventure video game set in an open world in which the player plays as a bull shark which kills humans, boats and undersea predators.[6] Beside swimming in water, the shark can launch itself in the air and hop on land. At the start of the game, the shark is a baby which grows older over the course of the game in distinct phases. The player can improve the functionality of certain body parts of the shark by carrying certain nutrients.[4][1]
Plot[edit]
The game's plot is told through the same point of view as the TV show Shark Hunters vs. Maneaters which is about a feud between a shark and fisherman Scaly Pete who injured the shark as a baby. The shark's actions are in revenge to him and the fisherman serves as the final boss in the game.[1][7]
Development[edit]
Maneater was shown at the 2019 E3 as a demo.[1] At The Game Awards publisher Tripwire Interactive announced that the game was set to be released on Nintendo Switch on 22 May 2020.[3]
