Mangineni

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Mangineni is a Telugu surname prominently found among the Naidu community in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.[1]

The surname is most prevalent in the Rayalaseema region, particularly in the Chittoor district village of Jerrimadugu, as well as in the Godavari districts.[2]

History

The Mangineni families have a documented history in both the Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions, with a prominent presence in Chittoor district and the West Godavari region. Their history in these areas dates back to the Madras Presidency era.

Historically, the family held significant administrative authority at the local level. During the colonial period, they served as intermediaries responsible for collecting land revenue and taxes, first for the East India Company and later under the British Crown.[3] In the Chittoor region, they were instrumental in the local administration of villages, while in the West Godavari region, they were part of the established agricultural and administrative social structure.
