Manu Anand is an Indian film director and writer, who is currently working in the Tamil film industry. He made his directorial debut through FIR (2022).

Career[edit]

After starting off as an assistant director and working his way up to an associate director for Gautham Vasudev Menon, Manu Anand finally got ready to make his feature film debut in 2019. [2]

On the 2nd of September, 2019, Manu Anand started work on his first film FIR, an action thriller to be produced by Anand Joy, starring Vishnu Vishal in the lead role.[3] The film was based on real-life incidents that Manu had faced in his career.[4] However, after few months, the actor took on the hat of the producer as well for the film, with the shoot taking place across different parts of India including Chennai and Hyderabad.[5]

After many delays due to COVID-19 and the fact that the team waited to put out the film in theatres, FIR released on the 11th of February 2022 in both Tamil and Telugu languages.[6][7] The film turned out to be a super hit venture for Vishnu Vishal’s VV Studioz, and raked in more than 12 crores at the box office, with non-theatrical rights accounting to about 22 crores.[8][9] The Film was also apparently banned in Kuwait, Malaysia and Qatar as the film failed to clear the local censors in the respective countries.[10]
