Manu Kaushish is an Indian-American entrepreneur[1] and music executive.[2][3] living in San Francisco.[4]
Early life and education
Kaushish was born in New Delhi, India and graduated from Modern School. He is the grandson of D.C Kaushish who built India's first 70mm Cinema Hall in 1961.[5][6]
When Kaushish was in High School, he started one of India's first Bulletin Board systems (BBS) called Twilight Zone.[7][8] He then went on to study Computer Science at Michigan State University. While studying, he missed music from India and this inspired his early ventures in distributing Indian media content abroad.[9][10]
Professional career
Kaushish founded Divine Arts,[11][12][13] which was a key partner for Bollywood Studio Eros International and he was added to the executive team as SVP, New Media to build Eros's digital strategy including their online movie streaming platform.[14]
He brought Bollywood films to digital platforms such as Comcast, Time Warner, RCN, Cablevision and Cox and was responsible for the first YouTube monetization deal for Indian content for Eros's YouTube channel.[15]
He co-founded Nirvana Digital,[16][17] and served as its chief executive officer.[18][19][20]
In 2020, Nirvana Digital was acquired by Create Music Group[21][22][23][24] and Kaushish was added to Create's executive team as president, India. Create raised $165 million at a $1 billion valuation in 2024.[25]
Kaushish has also been involved in media production, including as a co-producer on the 2017 TV series Meet the Drapers.[26]
Kaushish has been a senior advisor at Atar Capital.[27]
