March of Empires is a MMORTS video game developed by the French video game developer and publisher Gameloft released in 2015. It is available as a freemium game in the Windows Store, Steam, Google Play and Apple App Store.
Game Setting[edit]
The game is in fictional medieval realms (servers), which present themselves as islands located in a vast sea. Each island or kingdom, is populated by an ever-growing number of players, each represented by a castle. The main goal is to develop your own city by constructing and enhancing buildings, troops, and researching new technologies. The better you develop yourself, the stronger you are in this game and are more likely to fight off the big guys.
In every kingdom there is a seat for an emperor, that is, a player who was able to acquire that role through conquests and power. Once instated, the one player can emanate laws for the kingdom, which other players will have to follow. The emperor is surrounded by 5 seats, a board formed by other players who have similarly won their role and who can offer advice or oppose the sovereign. Only the emperor in their realm can assign the title to the players. there are 8 titles, which are Treasurer, Guardian, Marshal, Ranger, Spymaster, Archeologist, Fool and Jester. Each title has its own special abilities and bonuses to the players within the selected capital. After the emperor is announced, a list of games will be held. All players can participate in the game to earn favours and to shop in the imperial shop.
Each player can join alliances and progress in the game by carrying out missions, assignments and other tasks such as research and construction. This creates might, a point-index each player has, which indicates their strength. The maximum level of the champion is 80. Once you reach level 80, you can participate in the Atlantis event. Which involves killing each other troops and to occupy the emperor seat. When you win the Atlantis event, you can earn reward. You can press the "help" button when you join an alliance to speed the progress of research, troop training, set or repair traps, and upgrading structures. You can help your alliance to upgrade the capital buildings, like the watchtower, regional walls, vault, mason guilt...By upgrading these structures, you are able to increase the strength of your alliance. The stronger the alliance is, the more capable you can attract strong players to join. Players can attack each other capitals when they do not put on their peace shield. You attack players for resources and killed their troops if you won. If your attack failed, you may lead to your troops killed in the defenders capitals and are not able to heal them, no resources could be get from the attack.
Factions[edit]
At the beginning of the game, the player chooses which faction to be: but can change later for 5.000 gold.
- Highland Kings: "mighty knights with iron armor and swordmasters"
- Desert Sultan: "furious warriors with spears, guardians of knowledge of the past"
- Northern Tsar: "heroic knights accustomed to living and dying on their horsemen"
The choice determines the look of different unit types, troops and buildings. More than just looks one can notice subtle differences in bonuses for troops, resources and city development.
Faction units: They are the elite fighters in this game. They fight very well but need to be in a mass number. In different king faction, the faction units would be different and their ability and bonus to your own army would be different.
Territories and alliances[edit]
Players can gather in alliances, which are larger groups united "under the same flag" with up to 100 members. They may attack other alliances, enemies or neutral entities and extend their power by claiming territory. In the kingdom capitals determine the territory, some will be already in the hands of alliances, others in the hands of single players or the CPU, so considered neutral. An alliance, will be able to conquer capitals at their respective level, then further building up the region to gain bonuses. The capital level ranges from 1 to 7 and each alliance can have up to 20 capitals. For players with the ranks of Duke or above, you are able to declare war to other alliances. Leader can propose espionage or union to the allies.
Paragon[edit]
In the last update in 2017, Paragon was introduced to the game. This further enhance the bonus that the cities have. e.g. for resources, you can add point to it in order to increase the % of the resources received. You can also activate the abilities of paragon, e.g., for resource, you can deplete the tiles instantly, which attract more people to teleport to the stronger region with higher level tiles or gather from the tiles of level 10 when they would like to activate the instant depletion ability.
