Margaret Seaton

Margaret Seaton (1917–2003) was a British artist and teacher.

Personal life[edit]

Alice Margaret Seaton was born 26 July 1917 in Greenwich, Greater London, England.[1]

She married Hugh Ranby McDonald, who was born on 6 October 1913. He was one of the Sherwood Foresters and part of the Punjab Frontier Force Regiment. He died 19 April 1988.[1][2] Margaret Seaton McDonald died on 9 March 2003. They are both buried at the Blockley Cemetery, Blockley, Gloucestershire, England.[1]

Art education and career[edit]

Margaret Seaton trained at the Blackheath School of Art[citation needed] and the Royal Academy Schools.[1] Seaton exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, in London, at the Paris Salon, and in other major UK cities.[citation needed]

She illustrated Charles Thomas Maltby's Yorkshire for Me.[3]

  • The Potter (Omar Khayyam), pen, ink and drybrush, 19cm x 25cm, signed Margaret Seaton McDonald. Sold at Halls on 23 October 2013 - Shrewsbury.[4]
