Mari Kanstad Johnsen

Mari Kanstad Johnsen (born 7 August 1981) is a Norwegian artist, illustrator and children's author.[1]

Mari K. Johnsen studied at the Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo and Konstfack in Stockholm.[2] She made her debut as a book illustrator with drawings, paitings, and collage in Barbie-Nils og pistolproblemet by Kari Tinnen and Vivaldi by Helge Torvund, both published in 2011.[3] In 2012, she illustrated the book Ballongjegeren by Anniken Bjørnes and the fanzine Blue Cabin.[4] The latter publication won silver at the Årets vakreste bøker 2012 in the open class.[5] She has since produced numerous works as illustrator, as well as magazines and political cartoons including for Morgenbladet, and has won prizes and international acclaim for her work.

Mari K. Johnsen lives and works in Oslo. She is the daughter of the designer and artist Augon Johnsen (born 1953) and younger sister of the illustrator Åshild K. Johnsen (born 1978).
