Maria Emmerich is an American blogger and Author who is best known for her blog and for her International best selling book Quick and Easy Ketogenic Cooking[1] which has been the #1 Amazon best selling book for ketogenic cookbooks since its launch in March 2016.[2] She promotes a low carb ketogenic diet as well as supplement treatment.[3] Emmerich has authored 11 books and cookbooks on ketogenic diets.

Early life[edit]

Maria Emmerich was born September 2, 1980. She attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls where she received a degree is nutrition and exercise science.

Lifestyle and Weight Loss[edit]

Emmerich struggled with her weight throughout her early school years. She followed the nutrition guidelines of low fat high grain diets. But even with this and running marathons, she still struggled with her weight. While at the University of Wisconsin River Falls she decided there had to be a better way. She spent the next year researching nutrition books and science articles to find if there was something that would better for her body. She found the ketogenic diet and in implementing it herself found it to not only help her reach her weight goals but also helped her heal from PCOS, IBS, fertility[4] and hormones[5] and other issues. She then decided to write a book about what she had discovered. She also was using this book to help fund their adoption.

She also starting blogging in January 2010. Her blog mariamindbodyhealth.com features recipes[6] and nutritional information about ketogenic diets. She specializes in how neurotransmitter balance help with health and healing.[7] She promoted benefits of gluten free diets.[8]

Adoption[edit]

In 2007 Emmerich and her husband Craig Emmerich started the process of adopting from Ethiopia. Following a job loss later that year the adoption was put on hold. In part with profits form their book in 2009 they were able to resume the adoption process.[9] They adopted two boys (Micah and Kai) from Ethiopia in 2011.

  • Emmerich then published her next cookbook The Art of Healthy Eating - Savory[16] in 2012.
  • Emmerich published The Art of Healthy Eating - Slow Cooker[17] in 2013.
  • Emmerich published a new nutrition book Keto-Adapted[18] in 2013.
