Mariana Bozesan (born 3 September 1958) is a German integral impact investor,[1][2] futurist,[3][4][5][6][7] economist,[8][9] author,[10][11] environmentalist,[12] philanthropist and women rights activist[13][14][15][16][17][18] living in Munich, Germany. She is also a full international member in the Club of Rome.[18]

Biography[edit]

Mariana Bozesan was born in Bistrița, Romania as the only child of a German mother and a Romanian father. She grew up under Nicolae Ceaușescu’s communist regime and emigrated with her parents to Germany in 1974, where she graduated with a Masters of Science degree (Dipl.-Inform.)[19] in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Between 1984 and 1986, she was an exchange student at Stanford University through the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). After a high-tech career where she held various executive positions at Digital Equipment Corporation (now Hewlett-Packard) and Oracle Corporation, Bozesan became a serial entrepreneur and turned into an integral investor in 1995. In 2009, she received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Sofia University (formerly ITP), in Palo Alto, California.[20] Bozesan is the co-founder and president of the AQAL Foundation and AQAL Capital, her own family office committed to 100% integral impact investing. She is also co-founder and board member of AQAL AG, a private integral impact investment firm based in Munich, Germany.[21] She is married to Thomas Schulz, a German investor and serial entrepreneur. They live in Munich and have one son, Albert Bozesan.

Leadership[edit]

Bozesan's work addresses inequality, hunger, and environmental degradation through activism, the advancement of consciousness evolution in economics and finance,[22] and the economic empowerment of young entrepreneurs.[13][23][24][25][26][27][28][29] She developed the Theta De-Risking Model[29][30] based on Ken Wilber’s integral theory. With it, investors and young entrepreneurs can build integrally sustainable companies through the integration of financial, ecological, social, cultural, behavioral, and human consciousness factors. She accepted the invitation to become a full member of the Club of Rome in 2013.[31]

Bozesan keynotes conferences worldwide on Integral Investing,[32][33][34][35][36] works on inclusive economic empowerment of women, lectures at prestigious universities,[37][38] is a TV guest,[39][40][41] and a TEDx speaker.[42][43]

She is, moreover, a strategic advisor on integral finance and sustainability to various governmental and non-governmental organizations,[44][45][46] and Corporate Social Responsibility organizations.[47] She was, furthermore, a National Advisory Board Member for the G8/G20 Social Impact Investment Task Force,[48][49] has advised the German environmental ministry (Bundesministerium fuer Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit) and contributed to the German adoption of the guidelines for sustainable investing based on UN PRI (Nachhaltig und Verantwortlich Investieren-Ein Leitfaden).[50]

Together with Hazel Henderson, TONIIC founder, Charly Kleissner, and other world leaders, Bozesan was one of the signatories of the Statement On Transforming Finance Based On Life’s Principles, the precursor of Principles for Ethical Biomimicry Finance.[51]

Philanthropy and inclusive activism[edit]

For more than four decades, Bozesan has been a philanthropist supporting children, the less fortunate, women, and sustainable development.[52][53][54][55][56] She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the International Museum of Women in San Francisco,[57] and of SAIV,[58] as well as a regular contributor to and speaker on the economic empowerment of women at The Global Summit of Women.[24] She was UNECE special advisor and lecturer at The Golda Meir Center, MASHAV-Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation in Haifa/Israel,[59] and a speaker on economic empowerment of women and contributor to the RIO+20 conference,[60] where she co-signed a letter to Ban Ki-Moon with BPW International.[53]
