Marshall White is a fine arts director based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is best known as the founder and director of Unity Performing Arts Foundation.[1][2] His worked has focused on theatre arts, choral music, instrumental music, literary arts, oration, and other forms of fine arts.[3]
Education[edit]
Marshall White was born and raised in Indiana. His father Bishop Jesse White taught him to play the piano and organ, and other forms of church music. Later, White attended the IPFW and the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago.[4]
Career[edit]
Upon graduating from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, White became the director of the True Love Baptist Choir, and served in that role for 22 years. Later, he served as the director of Northrop High School's Contemporary Chorale Choir. From 1994 to 2000, he was the director of Black Voices of Inspiration at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.[4]
In 2000, White officially incorporated the Unity Performing Arts Foundation, although its roots date back to 1993 as an unofficial grassroots organization.[5] White is also the director and founder of the Voices of Unity Youth Choir (VOU), a youth choir based at the Unity Performing Arts Foundation.[6] Throughout his career, White has also focused extensively on holistic youth development in his organizations,[7][1][2]
