Martin Meister (born 24 May 1971 as Martin Herbert Wolfgang Meister) is an Austrian pop singer,[1] songwriter, producer and entertainer.[2]

Career[edit]

Meister started his career in advertising and music industry in the late 1980s. Grown up in Vienna, he moved and lived in London[3] between 1992-2002. Growing up in Vienna, he became a Goth[3] influenced by poet Edgar Allan Poe and Siouxsie Sioux. Martin first became a lyricist and writer as well as a performer in London. He took acting lessons in Vienna and London as he was continuously invited to perform in little parts in film and on TV. He later claimed in an interview for ITV that he never was really interested in being an actor but rather slipped into it.

Martin Meister photographed in the late 1980s in his own clothing design which was on exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum London in 1994.

Actor and model[edit]

Meister appeared for Vogue Italia in 2004. Celebrity photographer Rankin mentioned Martin Meister in 2000 in his book Rankin Works. In 1998 he appeared as a cameo with Anita Pallenberg in Madonna's Drowned World/Substitute for Love. In 1998 Martin Meister played next to Daniel Craig in Love Is The Devil. Other pop videos in appearance include Timo Maas Shifter (Warner Music 2002). In 2010 Martin played a character in the Austrian TV series Tom Turbo.

Musician[edit]

Martin Meister started his musical career as signature Martin 101 in 1996. The on Deep9 Records released electronic club track Shining. He performed at several events including the Ministry Of Sound (for Pushca 1997), The Garden Club Vienna (Kinky Disco 1998), The Eves Club (London 2001 & 2002), Freedom (London 2000), Battersea Power Station (1996), The Cross (London 2003), among others. In 2003 he got a live radio broadcast on KroneHit from the charity event The Life Ball, co-hosted by Elton John in Rathaus, Vienna. His single Sweet Dreams made it onto the 'Top 100 Dance Charts' in 2009.
