Masato Degawa
Masato Degawa (born 1957[1]) is a Japanese businessman and portfolio manager. He served a CEO of BlackRock Japan.
Biography[edit]
Masato Degawa was born in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture[2] and attended Fukui Prefectural Takefu High School until 1973.[3] He graduated from Atlantic College,[4] and 1979 completed a master's degree in engineering and economics from the University of Oxford.[5][6] After attending the Matsushita Institute of Government and Economics,[1] he entered the Brookings Institution in 1982.[5]
After working as an equity analyst at Morgan Stanley in Japan and a senior portfolio manager at JP Morgan Asset Management,[6] he became president of Societe Generale Asset Management (currently Amundi) in 2007.[6]
After serving as vice president and COO of Amundi since 2010, he served as president and representative director of BlackRock Japan. In 2018, he was appointed Senior Advisor for Japan at the Affiliated Managers Group.[6]
