Bharath Kumar (born 9 April 1996), professionally known as Master Bharath, is an Indian actor who works prominently in Telugu films apart from a few Tamil films and television serials.

Career

Child acting

He debuted in the film industry with the film Naina in 2002. His performance in Panchatanthiram brought him attention. When Panchatanthiram was dubbed in Telugu he gained the attention of the Telugu audience.[1] The dub also gained Kumar the attention of director Srinu Vaitla.

Kumar made his debut in Telugu with Anandamanandamaye a 2004 Indian Telugu language romantic comedy drama film directed by Vaitla, followed by short but iconic character in Venky, which became a hit for Kumar.[citation needed] Vaitla cast Kumar in all his upcoming movies including Dhee and a small role in Dubai Seenu.

In 2008, Kumar and Vaitla's partnership on Ready earned Kumar a Nandi award for best child actor.

Around 2012, Kumar reduced his weight from 110 kilograms (240 lb) to 76 kilograms (168 lb), which was a topic of discussion in the industry.[citation needed] While taking some small roles to main a good relationship with the crew, Kumar partially retired from the industry to focus on his studies.[citation needed]

He received a Government of Tamil Nadu Award for Best Child Artiste and Nandi Award for Best Child Actor in 2008. Kumar received a second Nandi Award for Best Child Actor in 2010.[2][3][citation needed]

Return to acting

In 2019, Kumar co-starred in the film ABCD: American Born Confused Desi with Allu Sirish. The film is a Telugu remake of the Malayalam film of the same name. Kumar's return to acting as adult had a mixed reception among the audience.[citation needed] He also starred in Iddari Lokam Okate and FCUK: Father Chitti Umaa Kaarthik.

He did not have any appearances in movies after FCUK until his return in Viswam. Kumar is said to be debuting as lead in an untitled movie.[citation needed]
