Matia Marcantuoni (born February 22, 1994) is a Canadian ice hockey player. He is currently playing as a prospect of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Playing career[edit]
Marcantuoni was the captain of Team Ontario when it won the gold medal at the 2011 World U-17 Hockey Challenge,[1] and he was also a member of the Canadian Under-18 team which won the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
A shoulder injury in his draft year hurt Marcantuoni's stock and he was taken in the fourth round (92nd overall) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.[2] During his final junior season in 2013–14 with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League, he was signed to a three-year entry level contract with the Penguins on October 19, 2013.[3]
During the 2015–16 season, while with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Marcantuoni was dealt by the Pittsburgh Penguins to the Arizona Coyotes at the trade deadline in exchange for Dustin Jeffrey, Dan O'Donoghue and James Melindy on February 29, 2016.[4]
