Matthew James Bridger (born July 2000)...[1] is a British businessman, social entrepreneur and media personality. He is the founder of The Bridger Foundation.[1] In 2019 he was elected as the Parish Councillor for Park Farm South and served two and half years as a Councillor on Kingsnorth Parish Council.
Early life and education[edit]
Bridger was born in Ashford, Kent in 2000 and educated at The John Wallis Academy where he was an active member of the Pupils' Council and the Young Chamber Of Commerce. Bridger briefly attended East Kent College in 2016 where he studied Media Studies before dropping out. While he was a student, Matthew formed[2] his first social enterprise.
Political Life[edit]
Bridger was elected as Councillor for Park Farm South Ward[3] of Kingsnorth Parish Council in the Local Election on 2nd May 2019. Matthew won the ward winning 157 votes. He sat on a number of committees including Communications, where he was chair of the committee. He also sat on the Staffing Committee and the Open Spaces Committee.
Bridger stood as the Conservative Party candidate[4] alongside running mate and Conservative Candidate Jeremy Adby for the Victoria Ward in the Ashford Borough Council Local Elections[5] on 2nd May 2019[6]
Bridger stood as the Conservative Party Candidate[7] for the by-election in Bentilee and Ubberley Ward[8] on Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Career[edit]
In 2013, Bridger formed M-Tek Solutions[9]
In 2015, Bridger founded Whisper Media.[10]
In 2017, Bridger co-founded Magnate Generation CIC[11], a Community Interest Company based in Folkestone, Kent, with Joanna Strickland[12] to support youngsters across Kent who are setting out in the business world.[13]
In 2017, Bridger was announced as a co-director of the Folkestone Business Hub CIC[14] which provided office space for start-up businesses and individuals moving into self-employment.
In 2021, Bridger founded The Bridger Foundation as a way to give back to the local community and shine a spotlight on some key challenges facing society.
In 2021, Bridger created a podcast series called The Real Talk with Matthew J. Bridger[15], which has featured politicians such as Cllr Trevor Brooks on Ashford Borough Council and Cllr Dirk Ross on Kent County Council.
He has also worked as a Constituency Support Officer[16] to Jo Gideon MP, MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central since 2019.
