Description
The May Sa’iri School has 3 roofed classrooms and one open-air class. As of 2018, the school had 135 students, 60 girls and 68 boys.[1] There were:
- 33 students in one class in Grade 1
- 34 students in one class in Grade 2
- 32 students in one class in Grade 3
- 37 students in one class in Grade 4
Water and sanitation
In 2018, water was available at the school from a nearby handpump. There were no specific facilities for the older girls handling menstrual hygiene;[1] this is a major reason for adolescent girls dropping out of school.[2][3] Up to 2018, there was no toilet building; students went in the open.[1]
In 2019, the School WatSani project built an Ecosan toilet building at this school.[4][5] Through a nudging approach, the students are sensitised to using the sanitation and water facilities.[4]
Transportation
All children travel to school on foot.[1]
