May Sa'iri ecosan latrine

In 2018, water was available at the school from a nearby handpump. There were no specific facilities for the older girls handling menstrual hygiene;[1] this is a major reason for adolescent girls dropping out from school.[2][3] Up to 2018, there was no toilet building, students went in the open.[1]

School WatSani project at May Sa’iri school

In 2019, the School WatSani project has built an Ecosan toilet building at this school.[4][5] Through nudging approach, the students are sensitised for using the sanitation and water facilities.[4]
