Medical News Bulletin is a Toronto-based online publication that reports on the latest health, medical, and research news, targeting the general public and medical professionals worldwide.[1] Medical News Bulletin provides research information daily and issues a free weekly newsletter, which highlights the week's medical and health headlines.
The purpose of Medical News Bulletin is to present the public with evidence-based reports of medical research, supported by clinical and preclinical research. Most importantly, Medical News Bulletin’s goal is to reduce misconceptions about clinical trials and educate the public to reduce their fears of clinical trials.[2] Through clinical trials education, readers can learn about the benefits of participating in clinical trials and advancing medical research.
Medical News Bulletin was originally established in 2012 as Clinical Trials Canada Magazine, a print and online publication—the first of its kind in Canada,[citation needed]—which aimed to address the lack of patient education regarding clinical trials. In 2014, the name was changed to Clinical Trials Magazine to reflect the magazine's expanded scope, now including information about clinical trials worldwide. In 2015, the name was changed again to Medical News Bulletin, and the magazine was expanded to include the latest medical news in clinical trials and information regarding basic medical research, medicine, technology, and lifestyle.
Medical News Bulletin now also contains an entertainment center, which includes medical calculators, IQ quizzes, medical humor, and brain teasers. With the calculators, readers can determine their total daily energy expenditure, anxiety and depression levels, diabetes risk, water intake, ideal weight, and body mass index.
