Megamonde is a group of industrial and commercial companies headquartered in Ougadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso in Western Africa. Its principal operations include the production and sales of motorbikes, digital printing, distribution and sales of food and beverage products, brokerage, and subcontracting. The company was established in 1998 by Nasser Basma. It employs more than 400 people across Western Africa. The company comprises offices in Ougadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Koudougou, Koupela, Kaya, and Dedougou, Burkina Faso; Bouake and Abidjan, Ivory Coast; and Cotonou, Benin.
The primary target of Megamonde is the production and sales of motorbikes. It is one of the largest private seller in Ouagadougou.Megamonde’s motor distribution expands over Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, and Benin. The company also establishes the following subsidiaries and independent companies: Megamonde SARL, Megamonde Industries, and Megamonde Print.

In 1995, Megamonde first operated as ‘Etablissments Basma et Freres’ for the sales of two-wheeled vehicles from Yamaha and Suzuki.
In 1998, Nasser Basma launched Megamonde. In addition to the sale of two-wheeled vehicles, motorcycles and after-sale services, the company integrated the sales of electrical household appliances, air conditioners, telephones, power generators, agricultural equipment, farm equipment, and engine lubricants.
In 2002, Megamonde continued to import Chinese motorbikes and installed an industrial unit with a production capacity of 35000 pieces per year.
In 2011, Megamonde established Megamonde Industries as a subsidiary motorcycle factory commercialized with a full time functioning assembly unit located in the industrial zone of Kossodo in Ouagadougou.
In 2014, Megamonde became the official reseller of the Asian motorbike brand “RATO” in Burkina Faso and many Sub-Saharan West African countries. Since then, the company’s motorcycle sales have increased every year..[1]. In four years, RATO, under Megamonde, became reputable in the local market just following Yamaha, and almost doubled its revenues with 7 billion CFA francs in 2017[1]
Megamonde also expanded to execute brokerage, consultancy, and subcontracting with foreign business partners. It has been a contributor and subcontractor to Public-Private Partnerships and in charge of the renewal and production of secure identification documents and licenses.
In 2017, Megamonde collaborated with Oberthur Technologies, which is now IDEMIA.[2] , to supply Burkinabé citizens with highly secure vehicle registration documents and driving licenses[3].
Under Megamonde SARL, Megamonde Motors Benin opened its doors in Cotonou in 2018. Megamonde Ivory Coast opened two offices in Bouake and Abidjan in 2019, expanding in Western Africa.
In 2020, Megamonde Print, a subsidiary to Megamonde, was established in Ougadougou specializing in graphic design and printing technology. The company also assists individuals and institutions in enhancing their trade images[4].
In 2020 Megamonde introduced its own brand of food seasoning, NABA.
In 2020, Megamonde became the distributor of Kabisa energy drink[5] and Zoodo Mineral Water in Burkina Faso.

Megamonde SARL, which works in divisions:
Megamonde Motos, in Burkina Faso, Benin, and Ivory Coast, distributes RATO motorcycles, cars, and GULF lubricants to private and public sectors. The firm imports and sells around 15,000 two-wheelers yearly from a share of 50,000 annual market[6].
Megamonde Electronics distributes household electric appliances, CHIGO air conditioners, and power generators.
Megamonde Operations manages foreign investors in Burkina Faso and acts as an agent, broker, and subcontractor in public-private partnerships between the Burkinabé government and foreign companies:
- Handling renewals of transport forms and the production of secure identification forms for the French company IDEMIA
- Collaborating with Turkish company M.N.G. and negotiating with the Burkinabé government for the construction of solar power plants in the South-East of the country and a hotel complex in Ougadougou
- Maintaining relations between the Burkinabé government and the Chinese companies China Harbour and CNECC
The group also carries out construction and developmental works, securing buildings, furnishing, installing communication technologies and network systems, delivering and maintaining supplies and vehicles.
Megamonde also supplies fresh and dried produce to Yougo, Balogo, and Bintou mining sites.
Megamonde Distribution specializes in the distribution of the following food and beverage products to the retail market: Kabisa, Naba, Zoodo Water.
Megamonde Industries manages the industrial production of motorbikes and the after-sale services.
Megamonde Print specializes in graphic design and printing.
Social Work and Sponsorships[edit]
In addition to the industrial and commercial vocation, Megamonde contributes to societal work [7]. In 2020, Megamonde carried out awareness projects and completed donations of food and hygiene kits to combat the spread of COVID-19 across different cities and centers in Burkina Faso [8] [9].It also donated ten million CFA francs to Tengandogo University Hospital to purchase equipment to deal with the crisis [10]. The company has supported Burkinabé citizens through donations of basic supplies, food, and vehicles [11][12][13].
Megamonde donated patrol motorcycles to facilitate the work of the National Police in Burkina Faso in July 2020 [14]
Megamonde also aids in education education. In September 2020, the company provided a scholarship and rent fees for four years to Grace Tarnagda[15]. Megamonde was also one of the official sponsors of the 4th edition of the Information and Orientation Week (SIO) in Burkina Faso[16]. In May 2020, the company partnered with the National Development Service (SND), the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Tourism, and OBL in “Je Slam pour la Patrie” championship which emphasized on cultural values and merits of the Burkinabes and provided rewards for the winners[17]
