Mehwish Maqsood (Urdu: مہوش مقصود) is a Pakistani singer and reality program competitor, famously known for her first reality show Pakistan Idol.[1] Mehwish is a folk-classical singer and hails from a non-music background. She was one of the 13 finalists of the currently running Pakistani reality singing competition Pakistan Idol. She was the first finalist who was eliminated in the finals, coming in 13th position.[2]
Personal life
Mehwish Maqsood was born to a Muslim Family in Lahore. She holds a degree in Arts; from an early age, she started singing and had participated in many programs at the regional level. Her voice has a texture of roughness and a folk touch. She also appeared in PTV Home's late night show Virsa.
Pakistan Idol
Mehwish Maqsood auditioned for Pakistan Idol in Lahore Auditions. Judges were enthralled by Mehwish's singing and Ali Azmat gave her a standing ovation. She was positively criticised by the audience and judges.[3] She was eliminated after achieving public votes in semi-finals but saved by judges by using their Judges' choice contestant power. In the final race of 13 Finalists, Mehwish was eliminated after getting the lowest votes than Waqas Ali and Muhammad Shoaib, and became the first finalist to be eliminated from the show.[4]
