Haris Haroon is an independent singer-songwriter and music producer from Lahore, Pakistan. Following his graduation from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Haroon returned to Lahore and built a music studio where he has written and produced music for himself and other artists.[1] Since returning to Lahore he has performed live and on film, produced several original songs and music videos popular on Pakistani radio, and composed the original soundtrack for a documentary film.

Music[edit]

Haroon's music has been critically praised as blending elements of traditional Pakistani music and philosophy with a variety of Western genres including Pop, Blues, Funk, and Rock. Several songs written and performed by Haroon, including "Putli Tamasha", "Saathi Re", and "Tez Gaam", became popular on Pakistani radio stations,[1] and were collected and released in the album "Putli Tamasha" in 2018.[2]

In 2019 Haroon's band, "HH and the Riot House", was shortlisted to be featured on Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 4,[1] a Pakistani television show in which local musicians compete against one another.[3]

In 2020 Haroon released his most successful single, "Meherma", a love ballad[1] whose name means "Moonlight" in English. The song was praised by local Pakistani critics as being "beautiful, sad, heartbreaking, and achingly sweet",[4] and for its "powerful message delivered with simplicity and originality."[5]

In 2020 Haroon also composed and performed the original soundtrack for the short documentary film "A Colourful Incision", which focused on a local entrepreneur affected by the 2020 lockdowns.[6] The film was selected as a finalist in Dawn.com's "#CreativeDistancing" film competition.[7]
