Meissa Mason is an Australian First Nations social media influencer.
Early life and education
Mason grew up in Sydney and Wollongong.[1] She has nine siblings.[1]
Mason simultaneously pursued a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts at the University of Wollongong,[2] majoring in Indigenous studies and minoring in visual arts.[3][4]
Online presence
Mason first posted on TikTok in 2020; her first video was a Beetlejuice cosplay.[4][5] However, over the following year she began to post videos about her experiences with anti-Indigenous racism, some of which went viral.[5] Her TikTok and Instagram posts range from make-up looks to political conversations.[3][6][7][8] Mason was made a TikTok Mardi Gras ambassador in 2021.[9] Later that year, she was chosen as one of 15 First Nations creators to take part in the First Nations Creator Program, sponsored by Screen Australia and Instagram.[10][11] She worked with LinkedIn for their debut on TikTok.[12]
Mason has been an ambassador of Wear It Purple since 2020.[1]
Personal life
Mason is queer, bisexual, and part of the Wiradjuri, Gomeroi and Awakabal nations.[3][5][13] Mason underwent breast reduction surgery in 2022, having wanted it since she was 17.[14]
