Melissa Marins de Queiroz Ferreira (born 11 April 2003) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian Portuguese, popularly known as Mel Maryns is an Irish singer and composer.[1]She started her singing and songwriting career in 2017, when she released her first original single called "Fala Serio".[2] Her biggest musical influencers are Guns and Roses, Skid Row, Evanescence, Billie Eilish, Shawn Mendes and Ariana Grande.[3]The artist is popular for her unique style since she differs from other pop music nowadays.[4] The popular hits of Mel Maryn include "Get Away",and "Burning Flames"with more than 25000 plays on Spotify.[5] Currently she has a considerable number of original songs on Spotify and all music platforms and also a couple of official music videos on YouTube.[6][7]
Early life and family[edit]
Mel Maryns real name is Melissa Marins de Queiroz Ferreira, but when she was little everyone used to call her “Mel”, which she then used as her stage name.[8] Mel was born in Brazil. However being so passionate towards music, she with her family decided to shift to cork Ireland in Feb, 2018, since Cork is a well known musical city.[9]
The only daughter of the parents Rafael Ferreira (IT engineer) and Amanda Marins ( IT engineer), Mel developed interest in signing during her childhood with her father accompanying her.[9] The singer was also very keen in playing piano which she learnt from youtube.[9] The artist learnt song writing, when in childhood she used to change the lyrics of famous disney songs and sing them in front of friends and family.[1]
Achievements[edit]
Mel Maryns single "Burning Flames” was nominated as a semi finalist on one of the biggest USA songwriting competition where Dua Lipa and Coldplay were the judges.[10] The singer is verified on YouTube.[7] As of 20 feb 2022, the artist is heard on radios of 26 countries across the globe.[11]

2017 - Career beginnings[edit]
When she was 13 years old, she wrote and released her first original single, Fala Serio in Brazilian Portuguese.[12]
2018 - Busking[edit]
She took a new step in her career when moved to Ireland, where she started performing in Cork's streets. Busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street, she was spotted and invited to feature on the YouTube channel, ‘Dublin City Today'.[9]
2020 - Single Release[edit]
She released her first two original singles in English namely, "Someone to Hold" and "Burning Flames".[13][14]
2021 - Single Release[edit]
She released new original singles one after another namely, "Get Away”, "Ghost in Town", "Butter Wings”, "Julie”, "Bluff” and "Gravity”.[15] And one Ep "Once Upon a Time”.[16]
2022 - Single Release[edit]
As for this year, the singer has released another single, "Countdown".[15]
