Melting Face emoji
U+1FAE0 🫠 is an emoji depicting a smiling face melting into a puddle, and was proposed by Jennifer Daniel and Neil Cohn and designed by Erik Carter in 2019 and approved and encoded by the Unicode Consortium in Unicode 14.0 in 2021.[1]
Development
Jennifer Daniel, the chair of the Unicode Emoji Standard & Research Working Group, a Working Group of the Unicode Technical Committee responsible for reviewing and proposing new emoji, first identified and presented U+1FAE0 🫠 as part of a list of common Japanese visual morphology and facial expressions that were currently unrepresented in emoji with the help of Neil Cohn, a cognitive scientist and comics theorist.
