Memento Exclusives (also known as BG Sports Enterprises Limited, the Memento Group, and TMG Sports Memorabilia) is a British e-commerce and sports memorabilia retailer.[1] Founded in 2010, the company is located in Bugbrooke, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom.[2] Memento Exclusives sells used and upcycled sports memorabilia in partnership with Formula 1, Ultimate Fighting Championship, and Moto GP[2] under the following brand labels: F1 Authentics, UFC Collectibles, and MotoGP Authentics.[3][4][5][6]

History[edit]

Memento Exclusives was founded in 2010 by Barry Gough, who had previously worked as a Formula 1 mechanic.[3] Gough created Memento Exclusives to repurpose and sell car parts and race memorabilia.[7] In 2014, Memento sold 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button's car, although without the engine.[8] In 2015, Memento partnered with Oxford United Football Club as provider of framing and memorabilia services.[9] The company has also provided framing services, beginning in 2016,[10] and served as back-of-shirt sponsor for Northampton Football Club in 2023-2024.[11] In 2019, Memento formally partnered with Formula 1, launching the online sports memorabilia store F1 Authentics.[12][13][14] Following its announced partnership with UFC in 2022, Memento Exclusives also announced plans for expanding production and distribution to the United States.[15] In 2023, Memento partnered with Grand Prix motorcycle racing to offer MotoGP memorabilia under the brand MotoGP Authentics.[16] [17] same year, Memento contracted with Red Bull to produce and market Formula 1 simulators replicating the chassis of race cars[18] followed by Aston Martin in Formula One simulators in early 2024.[19][20]

Diversification[edit]

Memento Exclusives diversified into mixed martial arts via a partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The deal, which made Memento the official global distributor of UFC licensed sports memorabilia, was brokered by IMG in 2022.[21]

Philanthropy[edit]

The company has engaged in philanthropic efforts in recent years. In 2022, Memento Exclusives partnered with Formula 1 driver Alex Albon to auction his Singapore Grand Prix helmet. The money raised went to the Wat Sakraeo Orphanage in Thailand. The auction raised £84,075. [22][23][24] In 2023, Memento Exclusives worked with Valtteri Bottas to auction the race helmet he used during the 2023 Australian Grand Prix. The money raised went to Save The Children.[25]

In 2023, Memento Exclusives, Formula One, Pirelli, and Ferrari Trento raised money for flood relief in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, as a response to the 2023 Emilia-Romagna flood disaster. The auction featured the four podium trophies from the race, which was cancelled due to flooding, the pole position award trophy, and a podium bottle. The auction raised £247,171.[26][27][28]

In December 2023, the company partnered with Oracle Red Bull Racing to auction a simulator signed by Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez and Christian Horner, for Wings for Life.[29]
