Mentol Pecah

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Mentol Pecah is an up-and-coming web-based comedy duo based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its members are vloggers Nirman Kamal Juhanis and Ahmad Mudhakkir Zainal Ali.[1] Both graduated from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Cyberjaya. What begins as a fun side project soon catapulted the duo into one of the favorites among Malaysian Youtubers.

Mentol Pecah is best known for their witty, nonchalantly funny storyline peppered with deep messages, which provoke its audiences to think creatively about the hidden messages they'd like to convey. Mentol Pecah receives a handful of recognitions alone in 2012 for their contribution in social media, including the Shout! Aloud Awards 2012.

About 30 vlog entries and counting have been uploaded on their YouTube channel, with the most popular ones including Teka-Triki and Nasi Ayam. Mentol Pecah was also featured in mainstream Malaysia newspapers, Kosmo!,[2][3] Utusan Malaysia [4] and Malaysia Daily,[5] an online daily news.

History[edit]

The beginning of recognition, ‘Teka-Triki’[edit]

It all started when Nirman Juhanis and Ahmad Mudhakkir uploaded the video Teka-Triki on YouTube in 2010. The video became an instant hit among Malaysian viewers (Teka-Triki currently has over 600k hits).[6] Later, 1711 Entertainment (a public relations company focusing on social media and entertainment) took notice and Mentol Pecah became a YouTube star of the day, having interviewed by the company.[7]

An appearance on a television talk show followed suit with Nirman Juhanis being interviewed by TV Alhijrah in the Assalamualaikum slot (a weekend talk show programme).[8]

Journey as a Youtuber[edit]

In 2012, Mentol Pecah collaborated with many Malaysian vloggers to create the Nasi Ayam video in conjunction with Ramadan celebration.[9] Popular Malaysian Vloggers who took part in the video include Maria Elena, Aman Wan, Kyopropaganda, Anuar Hadi and Mat Lutfi, among many others.
