Meredith A. Crowley is an American economist and currently a Professor of International Economics at University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St. John's College. Her research focuses on International Trade, Trade Policy and International Macro.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Crowley has a B.A. from Bowdoin College in Asian studies and chemistry (1994). She further went on to study at Harvard University, and received a masters degree in Public Policy, International Trade and Finance in 1996. She received an M.S. (1998) and a Ph.D. (2001) in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.[1]

Career[edit]

After graduating from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Crowley's first position was as an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. She stayed at the Federal Reserve until 2014. She became an Associate Professor of Economics at Cambridge University in 2013. She was granted tenure and promoted to Professor in 2018.[1]

She has served advisory roles in several governments and scientific comittees. In addition to her advisory roles, she is a currently a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), a Senior Fellow for a think tank named UK in a Changing Europe, a Coordinator of the Transmission Mechanisms and Economic Policy Research Theme at the Janeway Institute for Economics, and a Topic Lead at the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence (ESCoE).[2]
