Mian Asad Hayaud Din (Urdu: میاں اسد حیات الدین) is a senior Pakistani bureaucrat who serves in Government of Pakistan as Additional Secretary In-charge.[1] A topper of the 1986 CSS exam, Hayauddin belongs to the Pakistan Administrative Service and is batchmates with Rizwan Ahmed, Fawad Hasan Fawad and Allah Dino Khawaja. Hayauddin's family originally belongs to Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.[2] With exceptional educational credentials, Asad Hayauddin is regarded as being among the most efficient officers in Pakistan's federal bureaucracy.
Education
Hayauddin completed his matriculation from Lawrence College, Murree before attending high school at Lake Forest Academy.[3] He obtained his B.A (Honours) from Amherst College and completed two master's degrees from the Quaid-i-Azam University in International Relations and Philosophy. Hayauddin then attended the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University where he obtained a master's degree in Law and Diplomacy as well as a Ph.D.
Career
Hayauddin is currently serving as the top bureaucrat in the Ministry of Industries. Previously, he served at the coveted position of Additional Secretary In-charge Establishment Division, reporting directly to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Hayauddin remained the Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce where he dealt with trade diplomacy. He served from 2000-2003 as the Press Attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan, Washington, D.C.
Before that, he served in Islamabad as Staff Officer to Federal Secretary Establishment Division. In Punjab, Hayauddin served as Deputy Secretary to the provincial government and as the Assistant Commissioner of Dera Ghazi Khan.
