Mian Muhammad Aslam (Punjabi, Urdu: میاں محمد اسلم‎) is a lawyer. He was vice-president of Lahore High Court Bar Association during 2008–09.[2][3][4][5]

Early life and education

Mian Muhammad Aslam took his postgraduate degree in economics from Punjab University and was conferred with a Roll of Honor by the university. He remained chairman of the Student Affairs Committee while studying at Punjab University. He became a member of the Lahore Bar Association and Lahore High Court bar after passing his law degree from the same university. Prior to his law degree, he also did his masters in English from Islamia College Civil Lines; while studying at college, he was chief prefect and was made chairman of the advisory council of the college. He also attended the NSW-09 at the National Defence University.[6]

Professional life

He belongs to a prominent Arain family of Toba Tek Singh.

Political career

He started his practice in 1990 and was appointed an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2008.[7] He is also a life member of the Supreme Court Bar Association Pakistan. Mian Muhammad Aslam contested the election of Lahore High Court Bar Association in 2007 and 2008. He was defeated in 2007 by a very narrow margin and elected in 2008 as Vice-President of Lahore High Court Bar Association for the term 2008–2009.[8] He played an active role in the Lawyers' Movement and frequently held rallies in support of the deposed judges.[9][10][11][12][13] He also contested the election of Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP).[14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23] He remained in jail for one week when Gen. Pervez Musharraf imposed emergency on 3 November 2007.[24] Presently, he is contesting the 2017–18 election of the Supreme Court Bar Association for the seat of Secretary, but he lost the election.
