Life and career[edit]
A resident of West Chester, Ohio, McNamara is a graduate of Miami University[6]. He formerly served as Director of Clermont County's Community + Economic Development Department[7] and as Butler County, Ohio's Development Administrator[8][9].
McNamara was appointed Treasurer of Butler County in March 2023[10]. His appointment came after then-Treasurer Nancy Nix left office to become the Butler County, Ohio Auditor[11]. The Auditor's position was open because then-Auditor Roger Reynolds was removed from office for a felony conviction.[12][13] McNamara had one opponent in the appointment for Butler County Treasurer.[14]
During McNamara's tenure with Clermont County, he negotiated for the location of a $550 million Nestlé Purina facility in Clermont.[15] [16] McNamara also led the creation of the Clermont County Land Reutilization Corporation, also known as the Clermont County Land Bank.[17]
In Butler County, McNamara worked on the $100 million West Chester Trade Center[18] as well as other projects including the Kroger company's first-ever "shed" facility[19] and The Marcum - a mixed-use multi-family development in downtown Hamilton, Ohio.[20] McNamara also led the Butler County Land Bank when he worked for then-Treasurer Nancy Nix[21]. The Butler County Land Reutilization Corporation (Land Bank) demolished hundreds of derelict, abandoned structures in Butler County while McNamara was Director. [22]
