Michael R Richter
Michael R. Richter (born July 22, 1993 in Montgomery, Ohio) is an American professional golf caddie. For 4.89 years, he was the caddie for Rickie Fowler. On June 12, 2020 it was announced that Rickie and Richter were mutually parting ways. He had been on Fowler's bag since 2015 including in all three of his major championships—the 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship, the 2017 Honda Classic and the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Richter was born in Montgomery, Ohio. He played golf for Sycamore High School, followed by a job in the pizza industry and was a Shift Leader at Rudinos Pizza Grinders. His favorite pizza was the buffalo chicken which he referred it as "the buffy chicky". There he met and began to caddie for Rickie, who also loved the buffy chicky. Of their long and close relationship, Rickie has been quoted as saying "Richter is the only guy on the golf course that wants me to play well and still gets me a pizza after every tournament, so why am I going to sit there and berate him and treat him poorly? He's the only guy trying to work his tail off for me." He is also known for being very strict about cell phones being out during tournament play.
His nickname, "Tank", was created in 2017 when PGA Tour player Jordan Speith recalled a hole shot where Richter said "just tank it!"
Richter believed that he caught the COVID19 Corona-virus in January 2020. He ordered a hockey jersey from China where he believes he received the virus.
He lives in Ormond Beach, Florida, with his wife, Erin – and they do not have children yet. Although Richter wouldn't be mad if something happened on accident.
