Michel Gaubert

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Michel Gaubert (born 1960 in Paris) is a French sound director, known for his work in the Paris fashion scene. In 1978, Gaubert was an independent buyer for a record store called Champs Disques. Soon after, he began producing his own music and playing it at Le Palace, a venue frequented by fashion designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Claude Montana, Thierry Mugler and Kenzo Takada.[1] In the 1990s, he began working for Karl Lagerfeld, and before long, Gaubert became the go-to sound designer for fashion show in Paris and beyond.[2] Gaubert's collaboration with Lagerfeld lasted nearly thirty years, until the latter's death in 2019.[1]

In 2013, Gaubert told Interview Magazine that, “as a sound designer, I’m more into looking into music as it creates a mood or underlines an image, rather than to make people dance. Music gives a hint of what the collection is about—it takes people somewhere else.”[3]

Gaubert is also known for his social media presence. His Instagram account, which he started in 2013, is a collection of eclectic, often humorous images.[4] In April 2021, the account has almost 400,000 followers.
