Michel Mersereau
Michel Mersereau is a mixed disciplinary narrative artist based in Toronto, Canada. He combines archaic and contemporary medias with a view to excavating story-telling traditions from social discourse.
Mersereau has exhibited his work in public venues such as Toronto's Metro Hall and in several private galleries including installations for Toronto's Contact International Photography Festival and the Sole Gallery. With a range of subject matter encompassing editorial, abstract and landscape architecture, Mersereau spent several months cataloging and interacting with Toronto's homeless population culminating in a series titled Between the Cracks, which was premiered in 2005. In 2010 and 2011, Mersereau's work received gold and silver medals for colour photography from the CASE II council. In 2012 Mersereau was an official independent selection in the Scotiabank Nuit Blanche Contemporary Art Festival where he exhibited his latest project entitled "The Profane & The Sacred", marrying community based storytelling with traditional furniture making.
