Shelagh Duffett (died June 24, 2020) was a Canadian artist.[1][2]
Duffert had a successful career in media, working at ZBM studios in Bermuda, CBC, ATV and Studio East (Blizzard Island). She was a sought after film editor putting her photographic eye to all her projects.[3]
Duffert was a self-taught painter and her bright, joyful, colourful work reflected her unique view of the world and a passion for life that is evocative of an almost nostalgic time. Duffett was also a Getty photographer, with clients as diverse as Jamie Oliver and the Philadelphia International Flower Show. She has illustrated and co-written a successful children's book and her work is licensed for use on an extensive range of merchandise from greeting cards to clothing. Duffett's work is in private and public collections in more than twenty-five countries worldwide, including professional offices such as the paediatric ward of a St. Louis, USA hospital.[4]
Her distinctive bold colours showcased the province she loved so much. Her art was sold online and also at the Halifax Seaport Market where she was a vibrant presence.[3]
An avid reader, nature lover, photographer, cook and writer, Duffert combined the last two passions when she published her “Nova Scotia Potluck” cookbook and more recently her feline-themed art in “Catalphabet” with Jon Mills.[3]
