Michigan Auto Law is an American personal injury law firm headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan.[1] Founded in 1969 by Lawrence E. "Larry" Gursten, the law firm focuses on litigation related to automobile and trucking accidents as well as personal injury and insurance-related cases, primarily in Michigan.[2]
History
Michigan Auto Law was founded in 1969 by Lawrence E. “Larry” Gursten, a graduate of Wayne State University Law School.[3] Gursten practiced personal injury law for decades and was known for representing clients in Michigan auto accident cases.[3]
Later on, the management of the firm passed to his son, Steven M. Gursten.[4] Steven handles truck accident cases and has been a leader in leadership positions in the American Association for Justice (AAJ), including president of its Trucking Litigation Group.[4]
In the mid-2020s, the firm became involved in a public legal dispute with CURE Auto Insurance.[5] The legal battle, which included lawsuits and counterclaims, made headlines in local and national news media.[6] [7][8]
Notable cases
Michigan Auto Law has been involved with a number of high-profile verdicts and settlements reported in court documents and legal publications including the verdict against General Motors[9], the wrongful death lawsuit involving Marni Yang, [10] and other cases.[11][12]
