Michaela Elizabeth Cook (born 26 June 1995),[1] known as Micks, is an Australian songwriter and independent country music recording artist.

Career[edit]

Early Life

Micks was born in South Africa and at the age of two relocated to Australia with her family. From the age of four Micks began instruction on various instruments and began writing songs at the age of 14. She began her professional musical career in August 2014, at age 19.[1] Micks completed a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Mass Media and Culture at the University of Queensland in 2017.[1]

Micks independently released her original songs on YouTube and sharing them via her social media accounts, resulting in a top 10 debuting EP Album on the iTunes Country Album Charts and Top 20 iTunes Country Single Chart with single, "Chasing Forever".

Collaborations[edit]

Micks released her single "New Life" in 2015 in support of the White Ribbon Foundation Australia, pledging a percentage of proceeds of the singles iTunes sales to the Australian Domestic Violence organisation.[1] "New Life" was then released to US and Canadian Country Radio as her official debut single in September 2016, peaking at number 10 on the PlayMPE Download Charts.[2]
In 2016 she joined RSPCA as an ambassador to use her social media platforms to spread the organisations message, as well as appearing at RSPCA Events to both perform and spread the awareness of Animal Cruelty.[3]
In June 2017, Micks released her single "Everything Will Be Alright" in collaboration with Tourism and Events Queensland, supporting the reopening of the Whitsunday's region after the devastating economical effects of Cyclone Debbie.[4]
