Mike Karbassi is a member of the Fresno City Council, representing District 2.[1] since August 22, 2019[2]. He was elected in a special election primary held on August 13, 2019 to fill the vacancy when Steve Brandau resigned to assume a seat on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors [3]. Among six candidates on the ballot, Karbassi was elected outright with 58% of the vote and was re-elected for a full term in the primary held on March 3, 2020[4]. Although a nonpartisan office, Karbassi is a registered Democrat[5]
